Je kent ze wel, van die coole double exposure foto’s die je kan maken met bijvoorbeeld een Diana F+ of een Holga. Maar als je dacht dat dat niet voor instant foto’s bestemd is, zit je er naast. Zo nam ik maandag mijn eerste dubbele instax polaroid!
Hoe ik te werk moest gaan vond ik op deze blog. Het is echt héél eenvoudig! Er staan 2 verschillende methodes beschreven in de link, maar ik geef toch de voorkeur aan de meest eenvoudige:
1) Een keer dat je instax aan staat, open de achterkant zodat je bij de filmcassette kan.
2) Neem deze er niet uit, maar houd die misschien wel al vast, zodat je er snel bij kan
3) Trek je foto, en zodra je op het knopje geduwd hebt, trek dan de onderkant van de filmcassette een beetje naar je toe. Zo kan het hefboompje niet bij de foto en blijft die er netjes in zitten zonder te gaan ontwikkelen. Trek wel niet te heftig of te ver naar jou toe zodat de film niet belicht raakt. Over het openen van je Instax hoef je je geen zorgen te maken: alles aan die kant van de film zorgt ervoor dat het licht geblokkeerd wordt.
4) Trek je tweede foto, en als je er nog meer op één afdruk wilt, kan dat ook natuurlijk! Voor de laatste foto doe je gewoon alles zoals je dat normaal zou doen.
Tip: neem beide foto’s met de instelling “Darken”. Anders krijg je een heleboel overbelichte zones waar je niet veel uit kan halen.
Het enige wat hierdoor wat “ontregeld” raakt is de teller, hij zal namelijk aanduiden dat er minder foto’s in je camera zitten, of als je de cassette redelijk ver hebt uitgetrokken, helemaal opnieuw gaan tellen. Dus onthou zelf hoeveel foto’s je nog over hebt!
En zo heb je zonder gefoefel met kartonnetjes of “dark bags” een coole double exposure instax foto! Bij deze beloof ik plechtig om na het legen van mijn huidige cassette een filmpje te maken dat jullie exact toont hoe je te werk moet gaan. Met andere woorden: kom zeker eens terug 😉

I found the how-to at this blog. It discusses 2 methods of double exposing your picture, but I prefer the second one, which doesn’t need any dark bag / dark room or tape, just a quick hand gesture and you’re there.
1) Once your Instax is switched on, open it’s back, so you can reach the film cartridge.
2) Don’t take the cartridge out, but if you’re not sure about your speedy reflexes, you can hold the back already
3) Take your picture, and as soon as you’ve hit the button, tip the bottom of the film cartridge slightly out of the camera. This will stop the mechanism from driving your picture out & spreading the chemicals to develop, since it can’t reach the picture anymore. Don’t tip it out too much so there is no light caught on film without your intention (but after all, it’s lomography…). Don’t worry about opening up your Instax; everything on that side is designed in a way that it won’t get affected by light.
4) Take your second picture, or repeat the process above if you want more exposures, and for the last picture, just close the instax and use it like you normally would.
Tip: use for both pictures the “Darken”-function! Otherwise you might just get 2 overexposed images merged in a mess.
The only thing that is affected by this is the counter of your Instax. So try to remember how many frames you have left! After I’ve finished my cartridge, I’ll upload a youtube video to show you how it’s done. So stay tuned…
